The in-patient rehabilitation department provides extensive services to long and short-term stay residents. The therapy approaches are both restorative and maintenance in nature.
Restorative therapy focuses on helping our residents maximize their independence with the goal of discharge to home or a lesser care setting such as, assisted living.
Maintenance therapy assists our more long-term residents to maintain their current level of function, increase their comfort and/or provide pain relief.
Our facility has a state-of-the-art rehabilitation center which provides physical and occupational therapy. Our facility is visually appealing and therapy is performed in a comfortable atmosphere by friendly and encouraging professional staff. These qualities help recovery and rehabilitation. We have also found that being part of a small rural community, many of the residents know each other as well as the community members who utilize our outpatient services. This fosters positive interactions as they enjoy seeing one another and often reacquaint themselves with friends who they have not seen in years. Our residents find strength in the words of encouragement given by staff, other residents and community members. One resident stated, "In my opinion this is the best rehab center in this area. The staff is the very best. They worked miracles for me. I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you for helping me walk again."
We are very successful with assisting our short-term stay residents return home. Each year we helped between 35-40 residents return to their homes after brief stays of two weeks to two months. As Inpatient Director of Rehabilitation my goal is to successfully return home 90% of the residents who are admitted because there truly is "no place like home." It is rewarding for our staff when residents get tears in their eyes knowing they're going home but also because when leaving they will miss the care and compassion they received here.
