Valentine's Day

For Valentine's Day, the St. Johnsville Rehab & Nursing Center started celebrating with a game
that had both the residents and staff participating enthusiastically. Colored paper hearts were
marked on each side with a unique symbol of sorts, then cut in half and put into two separate
piles. One stack was handed out to the residents, while the other was distributed amongst the
personnel. Both groups were then encouraged to search and find the individual with the paper
heart half that matched their own. When a match was made, they would bring it to the
Activities Department and receive their candy prizes. This event proved to be so popular, that
it was done again in the afternoon with second shift employees.
Later, there was a festive party thrown in honor of this most romantic of all holidays. Facility
Administrator Lisa Volk, announced then that David and Clara Cross were to crowned King and
Queen, with Robert Stetin as Prince.
Dietary provided heart-shaped cookies that were served alog with various beverage choices,
while decorations included red, white and pink balloons. Love songs played softly in the
background and discussions were lively, Fun and laughs were had by all!
